Modern Grunge ft. Tailoring, layering and pastels.

GRUNGE has become an aspect of every outfit so far this year. There is always a hint of it.
Grungy florals mixed with lace in hues were on the Topshop Unique AW14 catwalk back in February and since then Topshop and Zara have taken the grunge but preppy look to a modern level.
Grunge no longer has to have a vintage feel. See the blue shirt with mom jeans and black flats? The grunge here is effortless and not the main focus.
Layering and tailoring are a key way to bring other trends along with grunge into an outfit. The grunge aspect can come just from a hair style, jewellery or a pair of oversized sunnies.
The grey oversized coat looks perfect over the pink and blue embellished jeans which are girly but have that grunge feel too. The four girls layer perfectly, fur coats and gillets covering dark, cosy sweaters and ripped jeans. A pastel but still bright blue jumper over yet more powder blue and finished off with a long necklace and a gold clutch bag is a perfect day to night outfit of high end quality.
I am in love with the yellow coat. There's no item I have ever wanted as much. The girl pulls off the coat so well, layering a vintage grunge shirt over a skirt and dumpy patent black boots finishing it off.
Leather skirts and sheer dresses are a must; black leather and pink sheer for definite. It's a way to be effortlessly chic and bring a sense of class into the outfit but keeping the relaxed, grunge, vintage feel.
