ELEMENTS OF THE SEVENTIES
After reading '5 Minutes with...A Fashion Fix' on http://blog.missguided.co.uk/blogger/5-minutes-fashion-fix/, I am super inspired to talk about the 70's styles that are having a beautiful rebirth.
For me, the "elements" of seventies fashion are as follows:
SUEDE - The luxurious fabric doesn't have to be real, just at least look real. It works on everyone if worn right. My khaki green suede dress (Missguided) that I bought back in February, is my favourite item in my wardrobe. I love this article on the Guardian's website on suede: http://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2015/feb/01/alice-fisher-on-style-suede-1970s-fashion. Towards the end of this season, opt for brighter and bolder suede pieces.
FLARES - Sometimes a bug bear, sometimes heavenly. Flares are not one for the chunky legged; whether you're tall or small. They're one of those items that are only perfect on a typical "nice pair of legs". Floral is the way to go with flares, "go hard or go home" comes to mind. The bolder the print, the more the attention - why else would you be wearing a pair of flares?
JUMPSUITS - Cutesy jumpsuits (see the black floral Topshop one below) are a summer staple, whether you go for a seventies one or not. A simple white top and Converse would look great with one, especially if you roll them up at the bottom.
FRINGING - Mixed with suede, fringing is so beautiful. I'm so glad I bought that beige waistcoat (featured in the Asda haul post). Topshop have a great bright orange, fringed, suede bad (below), which hits so many trends within the Seventies theme.
CROCHET - This trend is great for the summer months. A crochet top would look great with flared jeans and a suede waistcoat - if you want to go all out seventies that is. If not, a crochet top would look just as great under a leather jacket and a pair of skinny jeans.
The woman they feature, Hannah Crosskey, wears a gorgeous mustard suede jacket (Missguided) in the article and stuns! The outfit screams personality and a sense of knowing what works best on her figure. The mustard colour brings out her honeymoon tan, and offset with the blue denim, it looks even better. I love how the python sandals give the look detail and edge; wouldn't mind a pair of those myself!

WHERE TO FIND:
Topshop has the perfect seventies styles at the moment!! Most are new in so will hopefully stay in for a while... Check out the gorgeous, bold suede pieces, and the incredibly flattering flared jumpsuits. What's not to love?
ASOS also have some great seventies pieces at the moment, as does Missguided.
In all, I wouldn't say seventies fashion is easy to pull off; although it does seem it on the surface. It's best to stick to simple seventies trends, perhaps one piece in an outfit; rather than going full out flares, fringing and suede.
