Tumblr Inspiration

Tumblr is my third favourite place to get inspiration, after Pinterest and Instagram. It's one of those social sites that has everything. My blog is fashion based of course, but I like other more original ones too.

My all time favourite blog is http://velvetunicorns.tumblr.com/ She keeps it so stylish yet some posts are grungy.

Tumblr has taught me that it's okay to be a little different, and you should still express yourself. That seems weird hence its only a website but most people are lovely and just use the site to express themselves through images and words.

My inspiration for this week has to be the following posts. When I saw them I was instantly inspired.

Luxury goes incognito

It was an eagerly anticipated wait for my September Vogue issue which my boyfriend kindly bought me while I was on holiday in France. He gave it me last night, and I'm in love with it already.

Alexandra Shulman has once again written a great Editor's Letter. I am so pleased that its the biggest issue British Vogue have ever published . I agree with her about how British Vogue is so much different to other Vogues. Like she states, our British culture is so diverse so therefore, so are our issues of Vogue. British Vogue doesn't have a particular look or woman on almost every cover.

This month's Vogue Spy is great. Knitted trousers, Bauhaus geometrics and maxi coats are on the radar this season and they will become true aspects no doubt of British AW14 style.

The Style Briefing brings new shapes to this season. Collarless jackets are back, along with collarless shirts and flared jeans. Leopard print will make a comeback, good for me as I have two leopard print shirts in need of wearing. Knee-length shorts will appear; shorts are definitely not just for summer anymore. Scarves are styled in a new way, slung around the neck once and belted at the waist.

Haute Street is so great. As spoke of, Karl Lagerfeld's supermarche de Chanel was inspired by real day-to-day life. He focused on recreating the tracksuit, the thing women only wear when doing the housework, home alone, looking after the kids and at a push to the supermarket. Christopher Kane making the padded jacket/parka/cagoule couture is wonderful also.

Utility and luxe go hand in hand this season and it's going to be such a great look. The usual parkas with leather skirts, white shirts and bike boots. American sportswear helped to inspire Stuart Vevers the new head of Coach. Sarah Harris describes his collection as "a little bit preppy and a whole lot Americana". She mentions some items: "oversized duffel coats in super-soft toffee sheepskin and others in blown-up red houndstooth; shearling-lined boxy jackets, white shirts with lariat fastenings, leather miniskirts with patch pockets, and chunky knits."

I absolutely love Cara Delevingne's Mix&Max shoot, she looks stunning as usual. The shoot features "unexpected print and colour clashes" mixed with the ever desired youth. As a young model, now 22, Cara works it perfectly and every shot could be deemed as perfection. She looks great in the candy pink wool sweater from Fendi which complements her English rose skintone. Ties slung around her neck as if they were scarves make the looks preppy and school-like but the different take on the knot makes it so much classier. In each shot the colours are bold and vibrant and clash so harmoniously.

The Brits are taking Manhattan in the form of two women, Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley. They're taking on Marc by Marc Jacobs, which as stated, accounts for 70 percent of Marc Jacobs International. Luella explains how they wanted to define who the "Marc girl" is. Just some from their list: spirited, wry, charming, mischievous, nonchalant, original, liberated, rebellious, brave and narky. They talk of how important the "Marc Jacobs' spirit" is and how it's never elitist, everybody could be part of it. Their models earlier this year are described as a girl gang hanging around skate parks. They had "long-sleeved dresses in glossy asphalt and natty grey tailoring with red and blue facing". They are totally not interested in "clothes you can't move in".

The Join Our Club shoot shows raised hemlines, and retro cool. Big tailored jackets over turtle neck jumper, finished of with leather skirts and biker boots. Bright duffel coats, and padded bomber jackets look great over colourful neoprene dresses. Candy pink is a must along with leather coats, quilted miniskirts and plenty of lurex. Blue, white and chestnut brown must be combined.

It's said by Vogue beauty that ponytails, eyeliner and purple are in this season. Great for me as purple suits me as I have rather dark green eyes.

The Sepetmeber Vogue moodboard is centred around office pieces. The palette must be soft and clean, but feminine tailoring is a must.

If you read it I hope you enjoy it as much as me. X

Spotted: Liverpool Market

Ahhhh dying from street style amazement at Liverpool market today.

Bargains were everywhere stall wise. My buys I may post separately.

The following are examples of the amazing street style I witnessed today.

Ripped

Denim, according to a post I read by Harper's Bazaar, is apparently decreasing in popularity.

However, ripped denim is becoming hot. Even hotter and appealing to the opposite sex. More of the upper leg on show than ever before, the frayed slits are reaching new heights. But, the jeans still have an air of sophistication if paired with other items and accessories appropriately.

The higher slits look best on girls with model like proportions, while smaller, curvier girls should opt for slits around the knees.

Can I?

Can I do a blog post on one item that I found but do unfortunately not now own?
I think so.

This beauty was found in an interesting French store. I say interesting meaning a shop full of crap. However, I still managed to come away with something, even though it was not this. That's because I unfortunately found it after when returning tried on clothes to where I'd found them.

This jumper is Céline-esque in my opinion, and is so much classier than the shop it was discovered in. Unfortunately, the picture was deleted by mistake however the jumper was slightly cropped, royal/cobalt blue in colour with creamy white stripes of thickness down the front.

With pale ripped jeans, messy hair and big sunglasses, it would be perfect for a day spent shopping in town. While for an evening out, it would be perfect paired with black super skinnies, gold pointed toe heels and a big gold clutch.

Queen B

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are rumoured to have split but she's still as fierce as ever, and keeping the relationship private.

Her style has always been on point but lately, she's stepped up her game. I love her Instagram as it is, but the double shots of her outfits are great. And she shows her personality through every outfit and pose.
And she's lucky because, everything suits her.

STOP LABELLING START LIVING

Cara Delevingne has to be my all-time favourite model. And, she's only been around since about 2010 or so.

Her personal style is so flawless, and oozes cool grunge with girliness coming through when she's walking red carpets or fashion week's catwalks.

I was surprised to discover, thanks to Elle Collections AW14, that she wasn't one of the most walked models. However, she is still the big young supermodel, and in my opinion the next Kate Moss. She's still and will remain in demand.

Topshop have bagged her for their AW14 campaign. It's going to be great. I pray they let her design a collection, following is Moss's footsteps.

Style Icon: SG

Selena Gomez has moved on from her childhood TV and film outfits and become herself.
Of late, she is one of the best dressers in the young world.
She definitely wears blue the best, particularly denim.

FENTY

Got rather excited this morning when I read on Harper Bazaar that there is talk of Rihanna doing something major in fashion.
According to the above source, she could be releasing apparel, beauty, cosmetics, lingerie and swimwear.
This is rather exciting, I am a big fan of her dress sense. And, she was named Queen of style at Paris Fashion Week.
I just hope that the clothes with be more wearable than her three collections for RI.
Her line will be under her surname 'Fenty' which has such a ring to it. Imagine saying "It's Fenty" when someone asks where your dress is from.
